The Earthquake....attack (30/09)

The strong earthquake that hit West Sumatra with magnitude 7,6 SR was so terrible. The earthquake occurred on Wednesday 30 September 2009 at 17:16, according to the Meteorological and Geophysics Earthquake Climatology located at 22 Km Southwest Pariaman, West Sumatra or 0.72LS-BT 99.94.

Area was badly damaged Padang Pariaman, until now rumored that nearly all the houses destroyed by the earthquake terebut. So did many people come Padang Pariaman died.

The Earthquake affecting 11 sub-districts.

- Tsunami warning issued, but then withdrawn.

- 119 dead, and 386 people injured, while thousands missing.

- Hundreds of buildings are damaged and followed by fires.

- Accessibility to affected area was disrupted. Communication & electricity powers are cut-off.

- Padang airport is temporarily closed, and opened after 6 hours affecting some cancellation of flight from and to Padang.

- EHA-WHO and Crisis Center MOH, deployed 90 health professional with medical supplies to the site today for Rapid Health Assessment.

- Regional Crisis Center of Medan, North Sumatra, Provincial Health Office and District Health Office in close collaboration with WHO Indonesia, send health teams and provided integrated Emergency Health Services according to Standard Operating Procedures.
